Alice Stephenson, I am a tech lawyer with a number of years’ experience in helping and advising tech companies manage their legal risks while allowing them to grow and flourish.

Technical data about the device used by you to access our website which we obtain through server logs and the use of cookies and similar technologies (see below),including the internet protocol (IP) address of the device and characteristics of such device
Usage data about your visit, which we obtain through server logs and the use of cookies and similar technologies (see below), including the pages viewed by you, how you moved about our website and how you interacted with particular pages

Those providing technical services to me (including external consultants).
I use MailChimp to run my mailing list and send you updates.
LAWFUL BASIS
Under data protection law, there has to be relevant lawful bases in place for the use of your personal data. For website visitors, this is:
· Consent when you sign up to receive updates from me. You can withdraw your consent and be removed from the list at any time.
· Legitimate interests for protecting the security and stability of the website and understanding how the website is used by visitors.
HOW DOES OUR WEBSITE USE COOKIES
The website uses small text files, called cookies, which are stored on your device when you access and use certain features of our website.
As cookies are unique, we can use them to distinguish you from other users for the purposes described above, however the analytical cookies are configured so that your IP address is anonymised.

There are also some other cookies out there from other companies. These "third-party cookies" might track how you use different websites, including mine. These include ShareThis (used to share content from my site) and Webflow (used to develop the website).
You can turn them off, how to do this will vary depending on the browser you are using.
HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR PERSONAL DATA
Server logs are retained for up to 12 months. All of the analytics and advertising tools that we use are configured to anonymise the IP address of your device so that we can’t identify you and we may retain this data indefinitely.
Marketingcontact details are retained until you unsubscribe or object to receiving direct marketing.
YOUR RIGHTS
Under data protection legislation, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal data, as below:
· The right of access(obtaining a copy of your data)
· The right to rectification(correcting your data)
· The right to erasure(deleting your data)
· The right to restrict processing (to stop use of your data for a time limited period)
· The right to data portability (to move your data to another organisation)
· The right to object(to object to our use of your data)
· Rights in relation to automated decision making and profiling (to know if and how we use any technology to make decisions about you)
